About Maison Matilda
Maison Matilda is a small, luxury hotel opened in September 2008 on one of Treviso’s prettiest streets: the via Riccati. With five deluxe rooms and one suite spread across 1000-square-metres this is a haven for those seeking peak and quiet, though social butterflies will enjoy getting to know other guests over a glass of the locally made Prosecco in our elegant lounge. Hand-picked furniture that combines Napoleon III with more contemporary pieces from the industrial era, combined with signature tones of champagne, gold and chocolate throughout, create a mood of understated opulence.
This is also a home for all seasons. We have open fireplaces in both the living room and breakfast room, which also has a comfortable lounge terrace for sipping coffee in the early morning light. In the summer the wood decked terrace and cooling, decorative fountain provide a quiet retreat for sunbathing. A breakfast of fresh croissants and orange juice, and the owner’s Mom’s homemade jam is included in the price. Car parking is available for €18 a day.

Situated in the heart of Treviso – Venice’s lesser-known little sister – the town has much to offer. Spectacular art, world-class museums and of course, lots of designer boutiques from the innumerable fashion houses located here make this a fabulous base for visitors looking to get off the beaten path. Don’t miss the extraordinary Doumo (cathedral) and it’s curious mix of architectural styles.
Elena’s insider tips
Leave your diet at home for Treviso boasts some of the finest Northern Italian food in the country. Don Fernando is a typical trattoria offering home-made food and a menu that changes weekly to reflect the seasons. La Vineria is a hip little restaurant with only 40 covers serving a fantastic selection of local wines by the glass. It also has a a small deli section if you want to pick up something for picnics. For more upmarket dining the traditional fish dishes at Antico Morer are not to be missed.
