About Riad 72

Riad 72 mixes the best of modern Moroccan craftsmanship with contemporary Italian design. With just four rooms it is a sexy, stylish boutique riad with its own private Hammam. Perfect for romantic breaks.

As one of the highest riads in Marrakech – the original owner was a friend of the Pasha and was granted special building permission – Riad 72 offers breathtaking 360º views of the medina and the Atlas mountains.

It is the only one of our riad restaurants that is open to the public (by reservation only), where guests can experience a traditional Moroccan diffa (feast) in a salon of grand proportions. A striking vermilion Cappellini dining table and intricate bronze-copper work panelling by Yahya (arguably the most important contemporary designer in Marrakech today) complete the look.

2 x 200cm x 100 m twin beds, , Southern Sahara textiles in traditional tie-dye and spectacular ‘mashrabia’ balcony – turned-wood lattice-work used to screen areas and provide privacy – inset with a two-metre long bath tub

Zahwa, 35 square metres
180cm x 200cm king size bed on mezzanine level, fragrant 1920s cedar wood ceilings, charcoal tadelakt shower room and secret doorway to the roof terrace

Lile, 20 square metres
160cm x 200cm queen size bed; peephole windows and zouak (hand-painted wood) ceiling, personal Hammam and direct access to open balcony with reading area

Karma Suite, 70 square metres
The “cube” offers a 180cm x 200cm king size bed in a room of 7m x 7m x 6m, proportions lit by a beautiful carved cupola with sky lights, large square bath tub and chaise longue by Cappellinni. Perfect for honeymooners
 

The neighbourhood

The Bab Doukkala part of the medina is easy striking distance to the souks, but far enough away to ensure a bit of tranquillity. A hot spot for antiques hunters, many of the city’s best dealers are located here

Within minutes of the riad you will find the Librerie Dar el Bacha for books on traditional Moroccan art, design and food, and high-quality local art at the Galerie Dar el Bacha. For contemporary Moroccan food for lunch on a rooftop try Terrasse des Épices, Dar Zellij for some of the finest traditional cooking in town.

In the Ville Nouvelle don’t miss cocktails and haute cuisine at the legendary La Mamounia hotel, a taste of old Marrakech at the Gran Café de la Poste, and extraordinary antique treasures at Amazonite in Gueliz.
